Welcome to RFID Wikipedia!
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and wireless RF sensors are the conduit between the physical world and the digital world. These technologies provide the ability to Identify, Locate, and Sense the Conditions of animate and inanimate entities and their surrounding environment, to enable near real-time decisions to be made based on that information.
RFID technology is a tool that when used responsibly, can benefit people in ways that are not only convenient, but save lives. The first and one of the most important Applications of RFID technology is to locate and identify airplanes (Airplane Transponders). If you press a button on your car key to unlock the door, you're using RFID technology (Key fob). RFID is also used to help prevent counterfeiting (Anti-counterfeiting) of pharmaceutical prescription drugs, as well as food traceability which helps ensure food safety and prevents the spread of disease.
As with any technology, when implemented correctly and responsibly, RFID provides enormous benefits to consumers and businesses. The RFID Wikipedia mission is to help people understand RFID technology in order to use it successfully and responsibly for the benefit of all.
